For over thirteen years, Alvin Walker, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana owned and operated a small yet successful electrical contracting business. He now works as an author and instructor specializing in electrical and NEC training where his services are available throughout the United States. In his over thirty year of experience, he has developed a very strong background in electrical maintenance, construction, and design engineering. He has taught Business and Law for Contractors, the National Electrical Code, Electrical Theory, (Electrical Service, Motors, and Transformer Load Calculations), and other basic and advanced electrical classes at Bossier Parish Community College, Louisiana State University-Shreveport, Louisiana Technical College (Forcht Wade Correction Center), and Southern University-Shreveport to include serving as the Department Head of Industrial Electricity at Houston Community College-Stafford, Texas.
Mr. Walker is best known is for his hands-on approach and the ability to simplify and explain the most difficult electrical subject matters. He is a master electrician and holds a Louisiana state license as an electrical contractor. He has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Carolina and has worked as an electrical engineer for E.I. DuPont and Westinghouse at The Savannah River Plant (Company) of Aiken, South Carolina and M.W. Kellogg of Houston, Texas.
In his daily life Mr. Walker is a devoted Christian who has a passion for serving Christ, his fellowman and teaching and spreading the Word of God. As a recipient of three honorable discharges, he served over 9 years in the US Army.
He enjoys traveling, wood-works and carpentry but is best known for his famous smoked barbeque ribs and sweet ice tea.
